Welcome to the DP Supervisor Connect!
Next DP Supervisor Connect meeting: “Communicating the Skill Deficit”
Providing balanced, actionable feedback is a cornerstone of effective DP supervision. It’s about guiding supervisees on areas for growth—what they could improve or do differently.
But let’s face it, giving this kind of feedback isn’t always easy. It can make supervisees feel vulnerable, sometimes triggering shame or self-criticism. If left unaddressed, these feelings might become roadblocks to learning. As supervisors, we might even hesitate to give corrective feedback, trying to avoid discomfort or power struggles. But avoiding the conversation can come at the cost of the supervisee's growth.
So, here’s the big question:
“How can I, as a DP supervisor, provide feedback on skill deficits in a way that helps rather than harms?”
This is a question many of us have grappled with. The good news? Together, we have a wealth of ideas, strategies, and experiences to share. And what better place to explore this than at the DP Supervisor Connect?
What is the DP Supervisor Connect?
It’s an informal forum for DP supervisors—whether you’re certified or in training. Think of it as a supportive space to share experiences, tackle dilemmas, and brainstorm solutions with peers who truly get it.
There’s no lecture, no prep, and no pressure. Just relevant, real-world discussions about DP supervision. You can join in actively or simply listen—it’s entirely up to you.
As a certifying DP supervisor, I’ve reviewed many supervision tapes and been continually impressed by the talent and dedication of my peers. We all face similar challenges, and together, we can inspire and support each other in overcoming them.
When: Wednesday January 22 at 6 PM (CEST)/ Noon (EST/EDT)/ 9 AM (PST/PDT).
Whether you’re seasoned or just starting out, you’re most welcome.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Warm regards,
